Songkran Splash Begins – Thai and foreign tourists flock to Silom for water festival fun

BANGKOK, Thailand – The vibrant Songkran celebrations kicked off on Silom Road in Bangkok, attracting large crowds of Thai nationals and international tourists, April 12. Armed with water guns, protective eyewear, and colorful outfits, revelers filled both sides of the street from Sala Daeng to Nararom intersections. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) officially closed the road to traffic to create a safe and festive zone for Songkran water play.

This marks the first day of the Songkran festivities on Silom Road, which will continue until April 14. Silom Road is closed in both directions daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM to accommodate the joyful water battles and cultural celebrations.

The BMA closes Silom Road from Sala Daeng to Nararom to ensure a safe and lively Songkran atmosphere.
