BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister of Defense Phumtham Wechayachai, as Director of the Flood, Storm, and Landslide Relief Operations Center, has confirmed that train services on the southern railway line will fully resume operations by December 12. Repairs to routes impacted by recent flooding have progressed, allowing trains from Bangkok to reach Hat Yai Junction last week. By Thursday (Dec 12), services will extend to Yala and Sungai Kolok, providing full connectivity to Thailand’s southernmost regions.

Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office Sasikarn Wattanachan stated that express and rapid train services departing from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal will resume full operations by the specified date. The State Railway of Thailand has urged the public to contact its hotline for additional travel information as the repairs are finalized.

Sasikarn also provided updates from the Ministry of Public Health regarding efforts to restore nine healthcare facilities in flood-affected provinces. Medical Service Emergency Response Teams have been deployed to assess and address damages at five facilities in Pattani and four in Songkhla. Short-term restoration measures include reopening outpatient clinics, emergency units, and intensive care units within 30 days, while long-term plans focus on implementing preventive infrastructure to mitigate future risks.

Sasikarn added that efforts are underway to restore all medical facilities to full operation, providing vital healthcare access to residents in the flood-affected areas. (NNT)
