State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has moved to hasten private firms working on the Red Line Electric Train route connecting Bang Sue to Rangsit to have it complete on schedule in 2020.
SRT Governor Wuthichart Kalayanamitr has personally inspected work on the rail line in Toong Song Hong, finding that construction is still behind schedule by 20 percent. His office is compiling all issues holding the work back to inform the project’s contractors.
The Bang Sue station of the rail line is currently 38 percent complete, but remains behind deadline. The 3 level station is to include a 1,700 car parking lot and connection to the Blue Line. With 8 platforms and space for high speed as well as electric trains, the station is to accommodate up to 129,000 travelers a day.
The Bang Sue-Rangsit route, once complete will extend to a total 26.3 kilometers with a total 10 stations heading north out of Bangkok. It is slated to be completed by 2020.
