Suspected RKK member detained in Narathiwat

NARATHIWAT, June 2— An insurgent suspect with an outstanding arrest warrant and suspected of being a member of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK) group was detained on Sunday at a house in Rueso district of this violence-plagued southern border province.

Abdulmutolae Kajeh, 26, was apprehended by a combined force led by Pol Col Anotai Chindamanee, Rueso police chief, and Maj Narong Poosap, deputy chief of the Narathiwat Task Force 30.

Mr Abdulmutolae was under an arrest warrant issued by the Narathiwat court in 2010 for alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of Pol Capt Somporn Srichotchuang, investigating inspector of Rueso police station, in 2010.

The detainee initially denied the charge.

At present, the RKK suspect has been taken to the Paramilitary Unit 41 in the negibouring province of Yala for further investigation into the killing of Pol Capt Somporn as well as the involvement in a gun attack at a Narathiwat Special Task Force 30 outpost last Tuesday (May 28) in Rueso district.
