BANGKOK, 12 November 2013 Suthep Thaugsuban, a core leader of the anti-amnesty bill protestors, and 8 other Democrat Party members, have publicly announced their resignations from the Party to join the current demonstrations.
Mr. Suthep stated on the protest stage at Democracy Monument that the government had not complied with his demand of completely abolishing the amnesty bill from consideration by 6 pm on November 11, as there is still a 180-day period left for the House of Representatives to revote on the bill.
In order to fully join the protesters, the core leader said he will officially resign as a member of the House today (November 12) at 11 am along with 8 others, which include the following: Thaworn Senniam, Sathit Wongnongtoey, Issara Somchai, Witthaya Kaewparadai, Chumpol Joonsai, Puttipong Punnakan, Natthapol Thipasuwan, and Ekkanat Prompan.
No reports have indicated Mr. Suthep giving any talks regarding the recent Preah Vihear Temple’s verdict by the International Court of Justic (ICJ); however, the Students’ and People’s Network for Thailand’s Reform and the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have called on protesters to deny the court’s verdict.
