BANGKOK, Thailand – The third runway at Suvarnabhumi International Airport has been officially operating since 1 November 2024. Airports of Thailand (AOT) aims to increase the airport’s capacity from 68 to 94 flights per hour and to reach a total handling capacity of 65 million passengers per year.
The third runway, situated in the west part of the airport, is 60 meters wide and 4,000 meters long. This new runway is part of the airport’s development plan, including the opening of the first Midfield Satellite Building (SAT-1) earlier last year and the ongoing construction of the terminal’s eastern expansion.
