BANGKOK, Sept 24 – A court for tourists was officially launched at the Thai capital’s Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday to provide legal protection and convenience to foreign plaintiffs.

The legal service, jointly operated by the Airports of Thailand (AoT) and Samut Prakarn provincial district court, will be given to foreign visitors who are engaged in legal disputes during their stay in the kingdom.

Trials are made using a video conference system from the Samut Prakarn district court.

More than 20 million tourists visit Thailand each year and the service will boost confidence among visitors, some of whom are named in petty cases such as theft.

A similar court was specially set up at Pattaya provincial court on September 5 and the third is scheduled to open at Phuket provincial court today.
