BANGKOK– The Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport will be providing special services to facilitate those affected from the bombing incident in Bangkok, while this service’s coverage will also include their relatives.
Suvarnabhumi International Airport is now providing extra facilitation services to individuals affected by the bombing incident at Ratchaprasong Intersection in Bangkok. This special facilitation service will also be extended to the relatives of the victims.
A service office has been established near Exit B at the passenger terminal’s baggage claim hall, prior to customs clearance points, to welcome and serve arriving passengers who wish to visit their injured relatives in Thailand, or those inbound to receive the bodies of the deceased. The airport’s customer service agents and Chinese interpreters will be stationed at this office to provide assistance to passengers.
An area on the departure hall at the fourth floor of the passenger terminal near entrance number 5 has also been designated as the location where all passengers can write their feelings and words of encouragement for this incident under the concept ‘Stronger Together’.
The Immigration Police is also providing overstay penalty exemption for the affected persons, while the Customs Department will provide facilitation in the transport of human remains back to their hometowns. Many airlines are now providing fare waivers on the change flights to and from Bangkok in wake of the incident.
The airport has also coordinated with the Tourist Police, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thailand-China association, and the Association of Thai Travel Agents to provide facilitation and information to tourists who have been affected from this incident. Thai authorities have been tasked with the objective of regaining confidence, ensuring a good national impression and making sure that the tourists will visit Thailand again.
