A Taiwanese woman has flown in to assist in the makeup of the deceased in Thailand, much to the delight of the local community.
Miss Chou Yi Hua, also known as Emma, aged 33, from Taiwan, is diligently applying makeup to the body of an old Thai man, without being fumbling, hesitant or afraid as she has already applied makeup to over 50 deceased individuals.
Emma revealed that she normally works as an undertaker in Taiwan but was inspired to offer her services after seeing the Facebook page “The Last House Everyone Gets To.” She contacted Mr. Yingphan Wongwai, 48, the owner of the page and a funeral service provider, expressing her desire to help with makeup and teach makeup techniques for the deceased for free.
Upon her arrival, she found a deceased person in a state of decay at a house in Satuek district, Buriram province, which had been dead for about three days and was emitting a foul odor. Emma was not deterred. She emphasized that she was not afraid to work on bodies that had been deceased for some time.
Emma also mentioned that she had been doing makeup for the deceased in Taiwan for four years, where the deceased often have a frightening appearance. She emphasized the importance of making them look peaceful as if they were simply sleeping. She confirmed her commitment to come back to Thailand to continue her work in the future.
“In Thailand, it’s not common to do makeup for the deceased. I do makeup for the deceased in Taiwan, so I asked if I could come here to teach makeup for the deceased to make them look beautiful and handsome. I am proud (of what I do)”, Emma said in Thai.
Mr. Yingphan shared that initially, he thought Emma was a scammer as he couldn’t believe that someone so beautiful would come to do makeup for the deceased. However, he decided to pick her up at the airport when she informed him that she arrived in Buriram.
Since the beginning of the year, Emma has been residing in Thailand and professionally doing makeup for the deceased. She is indifferent to the condition of the bodies, always striving to make them look their best.
Throughout her time in Thailand, Emma has been teaching makeup techniques to make the deceased appear as if they are peacefully sleeping, much to the satisfaction of the local community and the relatives of the deceased, who never imagined that such a beautiful woman would be willing to work with bodies in various states of decay.
