BANGKOK, 24 May 2014 – The National Peace and Order Maintaining Council Chief, General Prayuth Chan-ocha has assigned his deputy chiefs specific responsibilities to oversee the country’s administration.
The NPOMC deputy chiefs have been assigned a range of different tasks to run the country.
The NPOMC Deputy Chief and Supreme Commander Gen Thanasak Pratimaprakorn is in charge of all security affairs, supervising the Defense Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Information and Communication Technology Ministry, and the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The NPOMC Deputy Chief and Royal Thai Air Force Chief ACM Prajin Juntong is overseeing the country’s economic affairs, including the Finance Ministry, the Commerce Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry, the Energy Ministry, the Labor Ministry, and the Transport Ministry.
The NPOMC Deputy Chief and Navy Commander Admiral Narong Pipattanasai is in charge of social affairs, overseeing the National Resources and Environment Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Public Health Ministry, the Science and Technology Ministry, the Culture Ministry, the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, as well as the Tourism and Sports Ministry.
Legal and judicial affairs in the country are now overseen by Royal Thai Air Force Assistant Chief, Lt Gen Paibul Khumchaya who will supervise the Justice Ministry, the Office of the Attorney-General, and the Anti-Money Laundering Office.
Completing the areas of responsibility, the NPOMC Deputy Chief and Royal Thai Police Chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew is in charge of all special affairs, which means he is now running the Council of State, the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, and the Secretariat of the House of Representatives.
