Mayor Itthipol Khunplome chaired the official opening of Teacher’s Day on Sunday, January 16 at the Indoor Sports Stadium in the presence of local school teachers and relevant personnel.
This date had been celebrated as national Teacher’s Day since 1957.
The Mayor noted that the teaching profession is a challenging one and that educators should be recognized for the hard work and dedication they put in to giving knowledge to their students and the benefit that this creates for the nation as a whole.
A religious ceremony was conducted with 9 monks chanting and blessing the elder teachers and also marking a remembrance for those who had passed away already. Certificates of honor were also presented to the most outstanding teachers of the year.
