NONTHABURI, Thailand – A Tuk Tuk driver was brutally attacked by a group of nearly 10 teenagers after a minor car collision in Nonthaburi, November 15. Following the assault, the mother of the perpetrator visited the victim at the hospital, trying to coerce him into dropping the charges, claiming to know the officer handling the case.
The incident began on November 8, when the Tuk Tuk driver, Mr. Chok, was accused by a man named Benz of colliding with his car. The victim, unaware of the accident but willing to take responsibility if proven, was confronted aggressively by Benz, who kicked him while he was sitting in the Tuk Tuk. In self-defense, the driver pulled out a fruit knife to deter further violence, but the situation escalated.
About an hour later, Benz returned with a group of nine others and attacked Mr. Chok, beating him with sticks, knives, and other weapons, resulting in serious injuries. The victim suffered severe head trauma, bruises, and facial injuries requiring surgery.
When Mr. Chok’s brother, Mr. Boy, visited the hospital, he found his sibling in critical condition with stitches and unable to speak. The family was later approached by Benz’s mother at the hospital, offering money for a settlement and pressuring the victim to withdraw the police report. She also allegedly claimed to have connections with the officer handling the case, which further raised concerns.
The family is now demanding justice and transparency, refusing to settle and asking for an investigation into the police officer named “Arthit,” who allegedly influenced the situation. They are also questioning how Benz’s mother knew the location of Mr. Chok’s hospital room.
Witnesses who observed the incident reported that the conflict started as a minor collision, followed by a confrontation where Mr. Chok attempted to defend himself. However, when the group of teens returned, the altercation turned violent, with the mob attacking him mercilessly, leaving him seriously injured.
The victim’s family has vowed to press charges and ensure that the perpetrators face the full consequences of their actions, seeking justice for the assault.
