BANGKOK, Thailand – Texas Chicken, a franchise under OR, is leaving the Thai market. The highly competitive chicken market has led to this decision.
On Sep 16, the official Texas Chicken Thailand page posted, “It’s time to say goodbye to Texas Chicken after 9 years of delicious memories! But don’t be sad, because we’ll be parting ways with smiles and brightness. Let’s create some final memories together. Eat your fill, have fun to the fullest, before we close this chapter together at Texas Chicken.” The last day of service will be September 30.
Texas Chicken was a franchise brought into Thailand by PTT Oil and Retail Public Company Limited (OR) as part of its strategy to increase non-oil revenue to 50% of its total. The decision to cease operations aligns with the parent company PTT’s directive for its subsidiaries to assess their businesses and focus on those with future potential.
Thailand’s chicken market is highly competitive, with a value of 27 billion baht. Texas Chicken, with 97 branches as of the end of June 2024, has seen a decrease of 10 branches compared to the same period last year. (TNA)
