Airports of Thailand (AOT) prepares to welcome over 4 million travelers during the Chinese New Year holiday, with heightened services and security across its six airports.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Airports of Thailand (AOT) is gearing up to accommodate a surge in passenger traffic during the Chinese New Year period from January 24 to February 2, 2025. Over the 10-day span, AOT estimates 4.03 million passengers, averaging 403,182 travelers per day—a 10.4% increase from the same period last year.

AOT’s six airports are expected to handle 24,599 flights, with daily averages of 2,460 flights, a 16.7% rise compared to last year.



Suvarnabhumi Airport expects 1.91 million passengers (190,890 daily) and 11,238 flights (1,124 daily).

Don Mueang Airport projects 989,584 passengers (98,958 daily) and 6,452 flights (645 daily).

Chiang Mai Airport anticipates 340,136 passengers (34,014 daily) and 2,082 flights (208 daily).

Phuket Airport forecasts 628,173 passengers (62,817 daily) and 3,809 flights (381 daily).


Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit highlighted the importance of preparedness, as over 770,000 travelers are expected from China alone, marking a 22.6% increase. AOT has been instructed to enhance services, safety measures, and the use of advanced technology to ensure a smooth travel experience.

Measures include increased staffing for immigration counters, multilingual support personnel, and improved cleanliness and emergency readiness. AOT has also been directed to adhere to international aviation safety standards to maintain passenger confidence. (TNA)
