Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha told the Transport Ministry to work with relevant organizations and airlines to inform travelers that safe flight services already resumed at Mae Fah Luang airport of Chiang Rai province.
Deputy government spokeswoman Traisuree Taisaranakul said the prime minister received a report from the Transport Ministry that the Nok Air aircraft that earlier skidded off the runway of the international airport in Chiang Rai was already moved out and officials already cleared the runway and reopened it today.
She said the prime minister ordered the ministry to work with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), the Department of Airports, Airports of Thailand PLC and airlines to inform travelers that flight services already resumed safely at Mae Fah Luang airport of Chiang Rai. The northern province was a major destination of travelers who normally arrived on flights of many airlines amid the improving COVID-19 situation, Miss Traisuree said.
“The prime minister is worried and is following up updates from the Transport Ministry concerning assistance for affected people and the salvage of the aircraft which met the standard procedures of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), CAAT and other organizations which provided help. After the clearance of the area and the confirmation of its safety, the prime minister ordered the restoration of confidence among service users,” Miss Traisuree said. (TNA)
