BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai baht opened at 33.97 per US dollar on December 13, weakening from the previous day’s closing level of 33.81. The baht is expected to trade within the range of 33.90-34.10 per dollar on Friday. Since last night, the baht has been gradually depreciating, approaching the 34.00 per dollar resistance level, pressured by a stronger US dollar.

The US dollar has been supported by rising 10-year US bond yields, driven by market expectations that the Federal Reserve may slow down interest rate cuts in 2025. This follows higher-than-expected US producer price index (PPI) data for November, keeping market concerns about US inflation prospects alive.
