BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai baht opened at 33.70 per US dollar on February 18, remaining unchanged from the previous day’s close. The baht is expected to fluctuate between 33.65 and 33.90 THB/USD within the next 24 hours, with market participants advised to watch for volatility as the US economic data reports are gradually digested.
Since the evening of the previous day, the baht (USDTHB) has moved in a sideways range of 33.67 to 33.75 THB/USD, attributed to the US financial markets’ holiday (Presidents’ Day), which resulted in lighter trading volume.
Meanwhile, European stocks’ risk-on sentiment has provided some support to European currencies, especially the British pound (GBP), leading to a slight pullback in the US dollar. Market players are awaiting new developments before making further adjustments to their asset holdings.
