Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke revealed that Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin supports durian exports, leading to continuous expansion in Thai durian exports.

Currently, the average price of export-grade durians has reached 160 baht per kilogram, with the goal set to achieve 130 billion baht in exports.

Over 50 percent of the output comes from Thailand’s Eastern region. Particularly, the Chani and Kanyao durian varieties are significant contributors. Relevant agencies are prepared to manage fruit production in 2024 alongside promoting overland export routes, aiming to distribute produce more widely and enhance farmers’ incomes.

According to the Department of Internal Trade, the situation for Thai durians in the Eastern region shows sustained growth. The average price for export-grade durians stands at 160 baht per kilogram, while slightly smaller export-grade durians average at 120 baht per kilogram, and non-standard sizes range between 100 and 110 baht per kilogram.

Exports to international markets, especially China, which remains the most popular market, show promising trends.

Recent data from the Agriculture Section at the Consulate General in Guangzhou indicates that in April the average price of Thai durians in the Jiangnan fruit and vegetable wholesale market in Guangzhou city was 52.83 yuan per kilogram, a 9.33 percent increase from the same quarter in the previous year, which had an average price of 48.32 yuan per kilogram.
