Meanwhile, spot gold prices surged to $2,843 per ounce this morning, while U.S. COMEX gold futures closed at a record $2,875.80 per ounce, up $18.70. The rally has been fueled by increased demand for gold as a safe-haven asset following China’s decision to impose tariffs on several U.S. imports in response to Washington’s tariff hikes on Chinese goods.
