BANGKOK, 4 May 2015 – The Royal Thai Police has not ruled out whether the deaths of 26 Rohingyas found in Songkhla province were the result of a violent assault.
Royal Thai Police Spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Prawut Thavornsiri said the recently discovered bodies of 26 Rohingyas have been identified as 25 males and one female. Three of them are believed to be younger than 20 years old.
The preliminary autopsy has not ruled out murder. However, it has been indicated that not all of them died at the same time. The time of death could have been one week or up to one year ago. Some may have died from starvation or the result of a fatal assault.
The spokesperson said that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and the Thai government will take impartial legal action against those involved in their deaths.
