The “One Sport, One State Enterprise” program receives renewed focus as changes expand the scope of funding. Initiated in 2005 (B.E. 2548), the program aims to foster greater collaboration between private sectors and various sports associations across Thailand. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin chaired the committee meeting to discuss the revitalization of this initiative.

In the meeting, Prime Minister Srettha outlined key criteria for funding eligibility, which include the sport’s international presence, public interest, past achievements of sports associations, their developmental plans, transparency in management, and effective performance tracking.

Two sub-committees were formed. The first focuses on setting criteria and filtering sports associations. The second sub-committee acts as an advisor to the Prime Minister and focuses on managing support from state enterprises and the private sector. Suphanit Chayawat, another advisor to the Prime Minister, serves as the deputy chair.

The revamped “One Sport, One State Enterprise Plus” program is set to launch immediately, targeting a budget of 1.3 to 1.5 billion Baht for a four-year span. The aim is to begin matching sports associations with appropriate funding within two months. (NNT)
