Thai Interior Ministry gears up for ASEAN Community 2015

BANGKOK, July 15 — The study centre to prepare for ASEAN Community 2015 under the Thai Ministry of Interior has pushed forward toward readiness for regional reality beginning in late 2015.

Permanent-Secretary for Interior Wiboon Sanguanpong told journalists yesterday that the ministry’s ASEAN centre is working to prepare the Thai public and government workers for the forthcoming ASEAN Community in accord with the policy of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).

As part of the preparation for the ASEAN Community 2015, the Interior Ministry’s ASEAN centre will focus on eight key strategies including improving the country’s competitiveness in products, services, trade and investment, improving the quality of life and social protection, as well as developing infrastructure and logistics, developing human resources, improving laws and regulations, creating knowledge and understanding of ASEAN and its significance among the Thai people, improving internal security and increasing ASEAN connectivity by developing community potential.
