A 29-year old Thai who was abandoned at a hospital in Ratchaburi after his birth before he was sent to an orphanage and eventually adopted by a Dutch couple and raised in the Netherlands is now back to Thailand with his step parents to look for his biological parents.
The man, Siwa Geboers, and his step parents, Wil and Mrs Margo Geboers, told the media that they visited Thailand for sight-seeing and would like to take the opportunity to look for his biological parents. They first went to Ratchaburi hospital where he was reported to be born there and abandoned at the hospital.
Working as a logistic expert in the Netherlands, Siwa said he learned that he was adopted by his Dutch parents at the age of two years and eight months from the Phaya Thai orphanage.
While in Thailand, he said he would try to look for his real parents and, if he is lucky, he might locate his parents whom he would like to ask how they felt when they decided to dump him.
Dr Thanaboon Prasarnnam, deputy director of Ratchaburi hospital, admitted that the hospital kept records dating back to about ten years and, therefore, it was difficult to trace Siwa’s background and his real parents.
However, he said he would check with Phaya Thai orphanage whether it has old records dating back about 30 years or not.
