Just after midnight on the 2nd of October a man was rushed to Banglamung hospital by the sawang booriboon foundation after he had been shot on the left hand side of his back and the bullet had passed through his body leaving a gaping hole in the front of his chest.

He was identified as 35 year old Somchai Singhthorn who works as a cashier at a local hotel, he was able to tell police that he was riding his motorbike to work and when he reached Soi Nernplabwan, two teenagers on a motorbike aged about 18 and 25 came up beside him and the passenger then pulled out a gun and shot him.

was this a case of mistaken identity?

As they took off he managed to drive to the 7/11 where people came to his aid and called the police.

He told police that he did not know what had provoked the attack as he had no quarrel with anybody.

The police suspect it may have been a case of mistaken identity but will interrogate Somchai more thoroughly once he has made a full recovery.
