Cyber police to investigate 109 Thais arrested in Cambodia’s major call center scam crackdown.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Cyber Police are set to screen and investigate Thai nationals linked to a call center scam base in Cambodia. Those found guilty will face legal action immediately.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiewpan, Commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, reported that Cambodian authorities conducted a major raid today on a three-story building in Poipet, identified as a call center scam hub. The operation led to the arrest of over 200 foreign nationals, including 109 Thai citizens.

The crackdown followed coordination efforts last Friday between Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelabut, the National Police Inspector-General of Thailand, and Cambodian authorities. Thai police shared intelligence on suspected call center operations in Poipet, prompting Cambodian officers to raid and dismantle the facility.

Following the arrests, the Cyber Police will work with border security units to conduct an initial screening of the detained Thai individuals. Investigators will analyze forensic evidence, including mobile phone data, to determine their level of involvement in cybercrime activities. Those found guilty will face charges, with authorities vowing to prosecute all individuals involved, from top-level operators to lower-ranking participants. (TNA)
