THAI: passengers safe at Pakistan airport

BANGKOK, June 9 — Thai Airways International (THAI), the country’s national flag carrier, stated that its 296 passengers were safe and were accommodated at Karachi airport after an attack on the facility.

Regarding the armed militant attack at Pakistan’s Jinnah International Airport at about 11pm local time on June 8, THAI stated that local authorities closed the airport for 24 hours which affected THAI flight TG508 from Muscat via Karachi to Bangkok. The flight was scheduled to depart Karachi airport at 11.50pm local time but could not leave.

THAI accommodated 296 passengers including three Thai nationals as well as 16 crew members in airport reception rooms that were secured. Its aircraft remained parked and heavily guarded.

TG508 was scheduled to leave Muscat at 8.05pm local time, reach Karachi at 10.50pm, depart Karachi at 11.50pm and reach Bangkok at 6.40am. Passengers include 33 persons in business class, 257 in economy class and three babies. An Airbus A330-300 plane is deployed for the flight.
