Thai PM & delegation in Brunei for 22nd ASEAN Summit

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 25 April 2013  – The Prime Minister and the delegation of Thailand have arrived in Brunei for the 22nd ASEAN Summit. 

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and accompanying Thai ministers and officials, on Wednesday, arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, at 6 pm local time, to attend this year’s ASEAN Summit.

The Thai delegation was welcome by the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei and the Thai Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.

Later, the Thai Premier joined government and state leaders from other ASEAN nations as well as ASEAN Secretary-General Le Luong Minh in a dinner reception, hosted by His Majesty the Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan.

All ASEAN leaders will sit down for a summit on Thursday to discuss the progress in the preparation for the ASEAN Community in 2015, while Brunei, as the host country, will also emphasize a call for people’s participation in driving the 10-member Southeast Asian bloc into the future.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Yingluck is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Myanmar President Thein Sein, during which both will touch on the economic development plan along the two neighbors’ border and the Dawei deep-sea port project.
