TAK, 3 August 2015, The Thai Red Cross Society has put together an optometry caravan for students in rural areas.
The caravan provides vision tests and corrective lenses, as well as diagnoses any eye abnormalities free-of-charge. The caravan is based at Tak city hall.
The mobile eyecare station is a bus outfitted with optometry equipment that allows for swift turnaround times. Students can take their eye exam and pick up glasses on the same day.
The Relief and Community Health Bureau of the Thai Red Cross Society advanced the program in dedication to HRH Princess Chakri Sirindhorn’s birthday anniversary on April 2, 2015.
However, the program was originally conceived in 1997. Since then, it has provided glasses for 63,189 students across 77 provinces. This year, it will operate in six provinces, namely Tak, Nakhon Phanom, Bueng Kan, Ratchaburi, Kalasin, and Chachoengsao
