Thai students achieve outstanding success in international mathematics competitions

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin commended their exceptional performance in the 2024 India International Mathematics Competition (InIMC 2024) held from July 26th-31st in Lucknow, India, and the Hong Kong International Mathematics and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2024 held on August 4 in Hong Kong.

Thai students have achieved outstanding success in recent international mathematics competitions, bringing pride and honor to the nation.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin commended their exceptional performance in the 2024 India International Mathematics Competition (InIMC 2024) held from July 26th-31st in Lucknow, India, and the Hong Kong International Mathematics and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2024 held on August 4 in Hong Kong.



Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke reported that Thai students won a total of 148 awards across both competitions, showcasing their remarkable mathematical capabilities on the global stage.

In the InIMC 2024, Thai representatives secured 12 awards with 32 medals in both team and individual categories. At the primary school level, students achieved six awards and 16 medals, while at the lower secondary level, they garnered six awards and 16 medals as well. The Thailand A primary school team won the first runner-up prize in both team and individual categories, securing one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. The Thailand B primary team also performed well, winning two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in the individual category.



In the Hong Kong competition, which saw participation from around 500 contestants from various countries including Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Thailand, the Thai students showcased their skills in both mathematics and mental arithmetic categories. Thai students won a total of 148 awards, demonstrating their strong performance from kindergarten through lower secondary levels.

Prime Minister Srettha expressed his pride in the students’ achievements, emphasizing that their success brings great honor to Thailand and serves as an inspiration for future generations. He reiterated the government’s commitment to continually supporting the development of the country’s educational foundation to ensure a prosperous future for Thai youth. (NNT)
