BANGKOK, July 22 — Thai students have brought home four gold and one silver medal from the 45th International Physics Olympiad held in Kazakhstan.
The five-student team representing Thailand which won gold and silver medals in the 2014 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Kazakhstan arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport this morning.
The gold medalists are Vit Sriprachyakul and Sorawich Wathanapenpaiboon from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School in Nakhon Pathom, Thippayawis Cheunchitra from Bangkok’s Samsen Wittayalai School, Korrawat Pruegsanusak from Bangkok’s Triam Udom Suksa School, and the silver medalist is Pasawi Manakul from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School.
Warmly welcomed at the airport, gold medalist Thippayawis advised Thai students that to successfully study physics, one must understand the nature of the subject and enjoy learning about it at the same time since it is around us in everyday life.
The 45th IPhO was held this year in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana July 13-21, 2014 with a total of 374 students from 85 countries.
