SAPPORO, Japan – The Thai team’s ‘World Water Festival’ snow sculpture depicting mother and baby elephants in Songkran water festival wins the 2nd place at the 49th International Snow Sculpture Contest in Sapporo, Japan, which promotes ‘Thai Charms’ in terms of Festival on a global stage.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), remarked, “TAT places great importance on this globally celebrated event. It serves as an excellent opportunity to showcase Thai culture, traditions, and artistic excellence. Through our participation, we wish to inspire global travellers to firsthand experience iconic Songkran festival in Thailand, which is highlighted as one of ‘Grand Festivities’ under the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025.”
Thailand’s representing team, sponsored by TAT, includes accomplished sculptors Mr. Kusol Boonkobsongserm from Shangri-La Hotel, Mr. Amnoaysak Srisuk and Mr. Kritsana Wongtes, both independent artists.
