BANGKOK, 11 May 2015 – A draft agreement between Thailand and Vietnam on import of Vietnamese workforce into Thailand is expected to be finished in July, Permanent Secretary for Labour Nakorn Silpa-archa said.
As chairman of the working group on the agreement drafting, Mr Nakorn elaborated that the ministry is expediting the agreement which needs to be submitted to the Foreign Ministry for scrutiny before being forwarded to the Vietnamese Government. If approved, it will be returned to the Thai Cabinet for endorsement.
Under the agreement, Thai employers are allowed to import Vietnamese labor only after no Thai workers have shown interest in applying for the announced positions.
Mr. Nakorn said jobs that usually attract Vietnamese labor are in the construction and fishery sectors.
