Thailand aims to boost trade with Vietnam to $20Bln by 2020

BANGKOK, 15 July 2015 – Thailand is aiming to actively boost trade with Vietnam over the next five years.

According to Deputy government spokesman Maj Gen Werachon Sukondhapatipak, the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday resolved to approve in principle the push to make the Thailand-Vietnam trade an important agenda.

Maj Gen Werachon stated that the Cabinet agreed that such an idea would lead to further cooperation between the two countries and to boost bilateral trade value to 20 billion dollars by 2020.

There was also a discussion on the farm products, the development of the quality of life and the creation of added value for agricultural products as well as the transportation connectivity between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, the cooperation in the banking sector and the intellectual property issue.
