Thailand and Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union to tackle copyright violations

BANGKOK, 24 April 2013 The meeting of Asia-Pacific broadcasters, underway in Bangkok, has been discussing ways to tackle the problem of copyright violations. 

The Public Relations Department of Thailand and Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), on Wednesday, jointly held a meeting on broadcast copyrights, in which the discussion was focused on how to help member countries further develop more effective measures to protect copyrights.

The meeting saw the participation of several broadcasters, related educational and law institutions, as well as members of Thai media.

Mr. Natee Sukolrat, member of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), commented that the discussion is beneficial for both business operators and consumers as the protection of copyrights will only help attract more quality and creative works for the public.

Deputy Director-General of the Public Relations Department Ampawan Charoenkul added that the meeting in Bangkok is a good way to build more awareness among all in the media circle.

Ms. Ampawan stated that participants will be informed about the each member country’s progress in copyright management and protection and take in valuable information to help develop the quality of media in Thailand.
