Thailand and Assam strengthen ties to promote investment and collaboration

ASSAM, India – H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Information Tehnology and Science, State of Assam, India, on 10 January, who led the delegation from Assam to Thailand to promote the “Advantage Assam 2.0,” to be held in Guwahati, Assam during 25 – 26 February 2025.



The Vice Minister agreed to help publicize “Advantage Assam 2.0,”designed to showcase Assam’s investment potential as a gateway connecting India with Thailand and ASEAN countries, particularly in the fields of semiconductors, petrochemicals, startups, services and tourism. The participation of entrepreneurs and investors from Thailand will enhance business connections and encourage future collaboration.

In addition, both sides discussed the close historical and cultural ties between Assam and Thailand and agreed to promote awareness among the people of both countries through people-to-people exchanges. (MFA)

The event aims to showcase Assam’s role as a gateway for investment between India, Thailand, and ASEAN, fostering collaboration in semiconductors, petrochemicals, startups, tourism, and more.
