
BANGKOK, Thailand – Senior military leaders from Thailand and Malaysia have met at the Ban Dida Border Operations Base in Yala province to enhance security cooperation along their shared border. The joint checkpoint, operated by both nations, plays a critical role in border surveillance, sovereignty protection, and preventing illegal cross-border activities. The meeting brought together top-ranking officials from the Royal Thai Army and the Malaysian Army to strengthen military coordination and support frontline personnel.
The gathering was led by Lt Gen Paisal Nusang, Commander of Thailand’s 4th Army Region, and Gen Datuk Mohd Nizam Jaffar, Chief of Defense Forces of Malaysia, along with senior officers from both countries. Discussions covered intelligence-sharing, counterterrorism strategies, and joint efforts to combat insurgency, drug trafficking, and other transnational crimes.
Both sides agreed to enhance coordination through aligned security protocols, improved communication channels, and expanded joint patrols. They also discussed the use of advanced surveillance technology to monitor high-risk areas and improve early warning systems. Officials stressed that close cooperation between the two militaries is vital for maintaining peace and stability in the region.
