Thailand and Ukraine strengthen parliamentary ties and discuss pathways for peace and humanitarian support

Both sides exchanged views on the promotion of Thailand-Ukraine parliamentary cooperation, bilateral and multilateral cooperation, cooperation on climate change, and the situation in Ukraine.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, had a meeting and exchanged views with Mrs. Alyona Shkrum, representative of the Ukrainian parliament and Member of the Committee on taxation, banking and finance, during Mrs. Shkrum’s visit to Thailand on 24 – 25 October 2024. Mr. Viktor Semenov, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Thailand, was also in attendance.

On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on the promotion of Thailand-Ukraine parliamentary cooperation, bilateral and multilateral cooperation, cooperation on climate change, and the situation in Ukraine. Thailand reiterated its position to uphold the UN Charter, international law, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. In addition, the Thai side underlined the importance of encouraging all sides towards a peaceful resolution and settlement of the conflict, as well as expressed readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
