BANGKOK, Thailand – H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with a business delegation from the U.S.- ASEAN Business Council (USABC), 25 November, comprising representatives from 33 leading U.S. companies led by Ambassador Ted Osius (ret.), President and CEO of the USABC, on ways to enhance economic cooperation, trade and investment between Thailand and the U.S.
The Vice Minister reaffirmed the Government’s policy continuity to promote Thailand as a prime destination for trade and investment, as well as the commitment to strengthen collaboration with the U.S. in strategic industries such as semiconductor, artificial intelligence, healthcare, renewable energy and creative industries. He also highlighted the Ministry’s priority in driving proactive economic diplomacy through both bilateral and regional frameworks, including the Indo-Pacific Economic Forum (IPEF).
On this occasion, he stressed the importance of opening up new economic opportunities and boosting two-way trade and investment. They also exchanged views on the Government’s policies to promote an enabling environment for enhanced economic partnership such as energy security, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), increased connectivity through infrastructure development and digital economy. In this regard, the USABC members expressed confidence and interest to further deepen cooperation with Thailand, while Ambassador Osius underscored that USABC’s investment will help build capacity, adapt to technologies and expand opportunities in Thailand.
In addition, the Vice Minister also hosted a welcome networking reception for the USABC delegation. Also in attendance were senior representatives from Thailand’s Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking and the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok. (MFA)
