BANGKOK, Thailand – Government officials from Thailand and Vietnam have collaborated to advance regional tourism under Thailand’s “Six Countries, One Destination” plan, which seeks to enhance travel cooperation among ASEAN nations. During a recent meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Ho An Phong, and Thailand’s delegation, led by Dusit Manapan, Advisor to the Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed strategies to improve connectivity and attract international travelers.

The initiative focuses on simplifying travel processes across ASEAN countries to encourage multi-destination tourism. Proposals include a shared visa exemption system, dedicated immigration channels, and fast-track services to facilitate seamless cross-border travel. These measures aim to position ASEAN as a unified, culturally diverse travel destination while making it more accessible to global visitors.

The plan’s improved accessibility is expected to boost tourism exchanges within ASEAN and attract travelers from key global markets, including the United States, Europe, and South Asia, providing a more seamless and interconnected experience for visitors.

Vietnam has expressed support for collaborative efforts to create new tourism products that showcase the cultural richness of ASEAN countries, aligning with regional objectives to generate economic opportunities and strengthen ties within the region. (NNT)
