Thailand celebrates His Majesty the King’s 6th cycle birthday on July 28. On this special occasion, citizens nationwide are invited to wear yellow shirts to express loyalty, unity, and gratitude for His Majesty’s benevolence. Yellow is considered highly important as it represents Monday, the day of the week on which His Majesty was born.

The celebrations begin in the morning with a royal merit-making activity involving almsgiving to Buddhist monks. The day will finalize with a nationwide candle-lighting ceremony at 7 p.m., during which Thais will light candles simultaneously to extend their best wishes to His Majesty the King and honor the Thai monarch’s enduring contributions to the nation.
