BANGKOK, Thailand – Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Taworn Thunjai welcomed Mr. Jiang Wei, Minister Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Chinese Embassy. Both parties discussed advancing agricultural cooperation in new dimensions, both academically and commercially, to achieve more concrete and effective outcomes.
The Chinese delegation expressed particular interest in Thailand’s approach to addressing cadmium contamination in Thai durians exported to China. The Thai side provided an initial explanation of its measures and oversight processes regarding contamination, aiming to reassure Chinese consumers about the safety and quality standards of Thai durians.
Additionally, discussions included the use of Guan Lei Port, the transportation of frozen seafood via the Thailand-Laos-China railway, and the import/export of fresh blueberries. The Thai delegation emphasized the strong relationship between the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Chinese Embassy, reaffirming Thailand’s readiness to cooperate with China in further developing agricultural ties between the two nations.
