Thailand detected three Omicron cases and one more possible case, waiting for the lab test result, said Dr. Supakit Sirilak, director-general of the Medical Sciences Department.
He said the latest potential case is a 41-year-old man, who is an UN official, returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo. If the lab test confirms the Omicron variant infection, he will be the fourth Omicron case, found in Thailand.
The first case is an American man, arriving from Spain and two Thai women, returning from Nigeria.
The latest Omicron suspected case received two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and entered the Test and Go system upon his arrival. He is now being treated for Covid-19 and the investigation is under way to identify persons who came in close contact with him. (TNA)
