Thailand contributes 3 million baht to global humanitarian efforts

Ms. Pinsuda presents financial contributions from Thailand to UNHCR, UNICEF, and WFP, reaffirming the country’s commitment to addressing humanitarian challenges and assisting vulnerable populations worldwide.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director General of the Department of International Organizations, on 29 November, presented the financial contribution by the Thai government to international organizations as follows:

(1) one million baht to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide assistance to forcibly-displaced persons in different regions around the world;

(2) one million baht to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to provide assistance to the vulnerable population in Myanmar, especially in the areas of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and nutrition;



and (3) one million baht to the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide assistance on food security for the Rohingya Population in Bangladesh, in line with Thailand’s pledge at the 2nd Global Refugee Forum (GRF) in 2023 in Geneva.

The Director General also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to addressing the increasing humanitarian needs and cooperating with the international community to provide humanitarian assistance for the vulnerable population in Thailand, Myanmar, and other parts of the world.

The three above-mentioned international organizations expressed their appreciation for Thailand’s long-standing and constructive role in providing humanitarian assistance, and reaffirmed that the financial contribution will be used to reach the areas and those most in need of assistance. (MFA)
