Thailand, one of 18 nations, has been elected as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for a three-year term, beginning on 1 January 2025. The nation earned 177 scores, the highest-ever scores in the Asia-Pacific region. This reflects Thailand’s commitment to promoting and protecting human rights domestically and internationally.
As membership in the upcoming term, Thailand will serve as a bridge-builder, fostering dialogue and consensus among countries and leveraging its progressive stance on various human rights while maintaining a deep understanding of the social, religious, and cultural differences of developing nations. Additionally, Thailand will share its successful policies, such as universal health coverage and inclusive education with other member nations.
The country previously served the council from June 2010 to June 2011. (PRD)
