ARIS – Thai delegates have joined a media committee meeting for UNESCO’s 40th Session of the General Conference in Paris, France, expressing their support for UNESCO’s organization of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week earlier this year.
Officials from Thailand, led by the Public Relations Department Deputy Director General Pichaya Muangnao, attended a media committee meeting for UNESCO’s 40th Session of the General Conference.
In the meeting, the Thai delegate expressed support for UNESCO’s operations and outcomes from Information and Communications Technology (ICT) implementation in the effort to realize the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The officials presented Thailand’s accomplishments in keeping with UNESCO’s determination to spur changes in society to become a society of knowledge, where access to information and media safety are promoted. The delegates also endorsed UNESCO’s organization of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week on 24-31 October this year.
This media committee meeting is a global platform for the presentation of policies and guidelines on communications development, the promotion of information and knowledge access and the development of media standards and reporter safety. The meeting also provides an opportunity for Thailand to exchange views and present its accomplishments, which complement UNESCO’s media and communication policies.
