Thailand-Laos parliamentary delegates discuss cooperation during AIPA Summit

Thailand’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, participated in a bilateral meeting with the President of the National Assembly of Laos, Saysomphone Phomvihane, during the 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Summit.

LAOS – On the final day of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Summit in Laos, delegates from the parliaments of Thailand and Laos engaged in discussions, highlighting the ongoing development of their strong bilateral relations.

Thailand’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, participated in a bilateral meeting with the President of the National Assembly of Laos, Saysomphone Phomvihane, during the 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Summit.

During the meeting, the Thai Speaker expressed gratitude to Lao officials for their warm hospitality as hosts of the summit and emphasized the strengthening ties between the two nations, particularly in the fields of economy and tourism.

The President of the Lao National Assembly conveyed his desire to deepen the relationship between the two countries before leading the Thai officials on a tour of the new National Assembly Building, which officially opened in 2021.



The 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Summit featured presentations and ratifications of several reports addressing politics, economics, and social issues, along with sessions focused on women parliamentarians and the drafting of a joint statement, which Thailand has endorsed.

The next ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Summit will take place in Malaysia, where a handover ceremony will transition the AIPA presidency from Laos to Malaysia. (NNT)
