Fresh graduates these days need to possess certain skills to gain an advantage in the highly competitive job market. The Ministry of Labour has launched a new campaign to provide these particular skills for students ahead of their graduation.
Minister of Labour Suchat Chomklin said his ministry has launched a workforce preparation campaign for students and workers to add new sets of essential skills according to technological transformation and other changes in the job market.
With this campaign, the ministry hopes these skill sets will allow students to find jobs more easily after graduation, and help solve the shortage of skilled workers.
The ministry will be working together with the Ministry of Education to develop workforce-related Big Data, in order to plan their training programs according to market needs.
The Ministry of Labour will also be arranging regional, national, and international skill competitions, while promoting legal tips and regulations related to employment, workers’ protection, and social security.
Through the Department of Skill Development, the Ministry of Labour has so far provided training and skill assessments for vocational students in their final year, including courses on digital machinery design, and modern motorbike repairs.
The department has also provided occupational courses to people who only have their basic education diploma. These courses now have around 1,100 trainees. (NNT)
