As for Tropical Storm “Bebinca,” which is currently moving northwestward in the western Pacific Ocean, it is projected to make landfall in China, posing no immediate threat to Thailand.

BANGKOK, ThailandThe Meteorological Department has forecasted that strong Tropical Storm ‘Bebinca’ is expected to make landfall in China and will not directly affect Thailand. However, rainfall remains a concern until September 22 due to intensifying monsoon troughs, which are expected to shift over parts of Northern, Northeastern, and Central Thailand. The strengthening southwest monsoon, combined with a low-pressure system over the South China Sea, will result in increased rain across these regions.

Somkuan Tonjan, Director of the Weather Forecast Bureau, noted that from September 13-17, the monsoon trough will become stronger and shift across the northeastern and central parts of Thailand. The strong southwest monsoon will bring more rain, particularly in the eastern and northern regions, where isolated areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. Bangkok and its surrounding areas, the Eastern region, and the Andaman coast are also at risk of intense rain, with the added threat of high tides, which may lead to flooding and water drainage delays.

Rain is expected to persist in Thailand from September 18-22, with the monsoon trough shifting lower to cover the southern part of the Central region, the Eastern region, and the upper South. Areas near the trough, especially the Andaman coast, should remain on high alert for heavy rainfall.

Currently, no signs indicate the formation of storms directly impacting Thailand. As for Tropical Storm “Bebinca,” which is currently moving northwestward in the western Pacific Ocean, it is projected to make landfall in China, posing no immediate threat to Thailand. (TNA)
