The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to report that Thailand has been honored with the ‘Golden Award’ in the category of ‘Popular Destination’ at the 2023 Golden Awards by the National Geographic Traveler China.

The recognition is testament to Thailand’s popularity as a preferred destination among Chinese travellers, backed by the Thai government’s stimulus visa exemption scheme and the ongoing efforts to ensure tourist safety and quality tourism experience.

According to the National Geographic China, the awards in its 18th edition recognized a shift in the travel behavior of Chinese tourists. Winners were chosen using big data including number of searches on the selected destinations as well as number of tourists that travel to the most popular destination.

Ms. Pakkanan Winijchai, Director of TAT Beijing Office, received the award at the National Geographic Traveler China’s 2023 Golden Awards ceremony held on 28 December 2023 at CP Center in Beijing, China.

In 2023, Thailand recorded 3,519,735 travellers from China, making it the second largest visitor’s market after Malaysia (4,563,020) and before South Korea (1,658,688). (TAT)
