BANGKOK, Thailand – The government, led by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, has begun preparations to host the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Bangkok. Scheduled for October 2026, the event will welcome participants from nearly 200 member countries, including finance ministers, central bank governors, and senior executives from global financial institutions.



With Thailand last hosting the meetings in 1991, authorities are coordinating efforts across multiple sectors to ensure smooth preparations. During a recent meeting, the prime minister highlighted Thailand’s experience in organizing major international conferences, making it a trusted venue for global economic discussions. Officials are now working on logistics, security, and infrastructure readiness to support the arrival of key financial leaders and policymakers.


The meetings will provide Thailand with an opportunity to showcase its economic and financial progress.
